Rozanne Geranium was selected as the 2008 Perennial Plant of the year, and with good reason. This hardy perennial Geranium has a beautiful growth habit that is extremely vigorous, but unlike to many perennials never invasive! It blooms with brilliant violet-blue flower with white centers which make the flowers stand out in any perennial garden. It has a deep green foliage that turns to an autumn red color in the fall.
It has a Mounded growth habit and grows to 18-20" high and spreads up to 36", which makes it a great border plant. The Rozanne Geranium loves well drained soil and tolerates heat fairly well when placed in partial shade. It is also a popular perennial among many container garden enthusiasts.
Rozanne rarely needs division and is a very low maintenance perennial. People have had questions on what to do when it gets leggy and starts to flop over. I personally have observed that this most common in a full sun area. Although it does happen even in part shade when the blooms are starting to go by. To remedy this I simply cut the plant back to within 6" of the soil and feed it. You will be pleased that with in 2 to 3 weeks you will have beautiful mounding plant that is blooming again.
To top it all off the Rozanne Geranium is great plant for your butterfly garden and is deer resistant!
